Tropical Arrival 1/7/22

I've officially arrived in the Virgin Islands and it is beautiful (and hot). One of the first things I noticed is that transportation is quite different than in the states. There is no Uber and Lyft, so if you're like me and don't have a car, you rely on either the Tai or a quasi-public mode of transportation called 'safaris' or 'dollar rides'. They are basically big trucks with a few rows of benches on the back and you hop on and off as they drive a big loop around the island. Also, Food. Expensive. Like a gallon of milk is $6 or $7 dollars. But, you can definitely find a way to manage using different grocery stores. The beaches have been beautiful so far with turquoise waters and white sands. I can't wait to try snorkeling and see what marine creatures I find. UVI's campus is basically a steep hill so I will definitely be getting my cardio and stair climbers in this semester going back and forth from the school and the beach.
