I decided to do a semester with the NSE to experience a new place and culture, and go outside of what I know and is comfortable. I knew going into college that I wanted to travel and have an experience away from my home school, so I went to an NSE info meeting the first month of my freshman year. Then Covid happened and I lost thread of the NSE program and wasn't sure if I would be able to travel before graduating. Luckily, I had the opportunity to jump into the program a few months ago and selected the Virgin Islands for its environmental and marine programs and its beautiful natural qualities. Going through the NSE process, while certainly doable, was a lot of paperwork, and I had to make sure to stay on top of the process for both USC and UVI. I had to apply to UVI, register for classes, figure out housing and health forms all remotely, but the coordinators were very helpful with guidance and questions. Now, I am packing my shorts, bathing suits, and snorkeling gear and getting ready for a new adventure!
